Superb opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Packages to be part of a fast-growing specialist engineering provider located in The Hague.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in the design, specifications preparation, and technical evaluation of mechanical packages, including but not limited to pumps, compressors, blowers, HVAC units, heat exchangers, pressure vessels and special equipment packages.
- Strong understanding of static and/or rotating equipment design, with the ability to review, evaluate, and provide technical guidance throughout all project phases.
- Strong understanding of layout requirements for package skids, including access/maintenance space, piping routing, weight distribution, and lifting requirements.
- Proven experience in complete lifecycle management of mechanical packages – from concept design, equipment specification, and vendor selection to FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), delivery, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phase.
- Provide technical leadership throughout all project phases – feasibility study design, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Performs engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and project requirements.
- Coordination of 3D model reviews with piping and layout teams.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard studies, and constructability assessments.
- Review and approve design documentation, including datasheets, specifications, drawings, technical bid evaluations, and vendor documents.
- Conduct technical assessments and cost-benefit analyses to support project proposals and decision-making processes.
- Provide technical support during procurement by preparing material take-offs (MTO), technical bid evaluations, vendors document review and selection and ensuring vendor deliverables comply with specifications, codes, and project requirements.
- Ability to manage vendor engineering coordination, including responding to TQs (Technical Queries) and resolving deviations.
- Identify and resolve technical issues during project execution, providing sound engineering solutions within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
- Contribute to project planning, man-hour estimations, and execution strategy development.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of mechanical systems with other engineering disciplines.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers to foster their professional development.
- Stay abreast of industry standards, technological advancements, and best practices, proactively incorporating improvements into engineering processes and deliverables.
Your Profile
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Experience: Minimum of 12 years of experience within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or EPC industry, with a track record of at least 5 years in a senior or lead role.
- Project experience: proven record in the design, procurement, and commissioning of mechanical packaged equipment for FEED and/or EPC projects including greenfield, brownfield modifications and revamp projects.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite software and Engineering Software commonly used in the Mechanical design and analysis tools (e.g., PV Elite, Ansys, etc.)
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills for managing and coordinating with partner process engineers, as well as for communication with (EPC) contractors and equipment vendors.
- Demonstrating professionalism and a solid foundation of technical expertise.
- The legal requirements to work and reside in the EU and Netherlands is desirable.
- Confident advisor with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
