Managing Stress for Healthy Living

Stress is something everyone feels at times, especially when dealing with change or life challenges, such as money worries, work issues, or relationship problems.

A little stress can be a good thing, as it helps us to get things done or focuses on things that needs our attention.

However, prolonged or excessive stress can take a toll on our mental and physical health. When we are stressed, our body releases a hormone called adrenaline, which usually gives us a boost or motivates us to act quickly, but it might also cause physical symptoms such as headaches, loss of appetite, a faster heartbeat or sweating.

If stress becomes constant, it can have a negative impact on our wellbeing. That’s why building resilience is key. Resilience helps us adapt to challenges, recover from setbacks, and maintain a sense of control, even during stressful times.

– You can build resilience and manage stress more effectively by:

– Identifying your stress triggers – recognising what causes your stress can make it easier to find ways to manage it.

– Try to maintain a balance by prioritising a good work-life balance, make time for exercise, eat well, and ensure you take breaks to recharge.

-Strengthening your support system by connecting with family, friends, or professional support who can help you navigate challenges.

-Practice self-care activities like mindfulness, deep breathing, journaling, or spending time outdoors can help build resilience and reduce stress.

Staying mindful to your personal stress triggers and building routines and measures to counter it can help you to lead a healthy and positive life, whether at work or at home.
